I lean towards Calvin's "dream girl" Ruby not actually existing and that any interaction between her and others was completely imagined by Calvin who is obviously gifted but Fight Club-style mentally ill. This interaction between them hinted at it:
Ruby: "Maybe I should talk to someone? you used to see someone, didn't you?"
Calvin: "Doctor Rosenthal"
Ruby: "Maybe you should go back?"
Calvin: "Thought we were talking about you?"
Ruby: "Yeah... yeah... we are."
